Running A Business Is Challenging

Once you have chosen a business that you want to promote online, you have one major challenge — to stay focused! I’ve pretty much covered in other posts what to do but as you go through the day-to-day motions of owning a business, you’ll find you are very distracted. It could be friends or family members trying to give you “helpful” advice, your pets needing attention, a busy household schedule — many things. One day you may find that things have gotten way out of control. If this ever happens to you (and it will!), here are some tips to keep moving forward and reaching your goals… on time!

postheadericon Does The Timing Of Your Social Sharing Really Matter? Part 1

Timing is everything!

We, as full-time online marketers, typically work Monday through Friday each week. The Internet and social media sites hum along 24 hours a day 365 days a year. It makes sense then that we have to match our potential market’s schedule so we reach and engage the most people. So, it stands to reason that sharing your information using social media during Monday through Friday business hours will not reach the majority of your target audience! Or, is this not true?

postheadericon Is Utilizing Post Tags and Categories Beneficial to Page Ranking?

Are blog tags all that important?

Make sure to set your blog post tags!

When you first start writing content, there are so many things to consider that you just might forget all about utilizing tags and categories.  I believe that these tools are mostly either  underutilized or completely ignored.  This is a big mistake usually committed by a newbie or casual content writers.

Publishing platform communities like Hubpages, Squidoo, and blogging platforms like Blogger, Blogspot, and WordPress all have the option of utilizing tags and categories.  Several others do as well.  If this were unimportant, why would they all offer these tools?

"Amateur Astronomers Discover a Lifetime Hobby"

People have been looking up at the wonder of the night sky probably since there have been people.  Regardless of your religious proclivities or culture, you cannot help but be amazed by what you see.  It boggles the mind to think about all that is going on out there. Stars are being born and dying, galaxies are being formed, meteors, comets, and other heavenly bodies are moving around at speeds we find hard to comprehend.

"Me, Myself & Irene": Poster design by Cimarron Group 2000

I know, your first thoughts are probably, “What does a comedy with Jim Carrey have to do with brainstorming?”  Especially when in this film his character has dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities).  I guess I was just having one of those moments when I sat down at my laptop and wanted to post about how our mind is a powerful tool and I didn’t want it to be another one of “those” boring mind posts.  It just struck me as funny in the movie that Jim Carrey’s character, Charlie, was never alone when dealing with life’s dilemmas.  He always had “Hank,” his alter-ego (whether he wanted his input or not).  Life is very complex, never simple and straightforward.  There are potholes, moments when we’re “under construction,” and there are times when even though it’s best for us, we do not want to “yield!”  Fortunately for most of us, we do not have Charlie’s  problems to add to the chaos.

I took a break from the “Making Money Online” Series. But, I was reminded last week by readers that it’s time to get back to it! The purpose of this post is to give new would-be online marketers an overview of some of the most important things they should consider prior to coming online; and to introduce the best straightforward newbie guide available today.  So, before we move forward, let’s do a brief review of what’s been covered so far.

postheadericon Is Your Blog Boring?

"Wake up! Get re-energized!"

So you have this really great idea to start a blog on a particular niche. (Niche: a focused, targetable portion of a market).  And, perhaps you even want to make some revenue from AdSense, Clicksor, or other contextual advertising. Hey, that’s great. You’ve put your heart and soul into posting your first few blog posts. No problem. Then, you kind of hit a dry patch… have no clue what else to do! What do you do to keep your blog readers coming back? What does a blogger do to keep their content fresh, and relevant?  You’re more than likely happy or satisfied with what you’ve accomplished so far, but now, each time you start a new post, you just aren’t “feeling it?” If you post your so-so blog post, are you afraid your blog will become boring? Maybe you can’t even pinpoint what exactly is wrong, you just “know” it. Maybe you’re distracted or don’t have the time to put together meaty content.  Then it’s time to look for some quick solutions! Hopefully I can get you moving in the right direction again!

postheadericon Water. It’s not about lack; it’s about availability.

Cool, clear, fresh, available water.

It’s not about a lack of fresh clean water, it’s all about access.

Water; we often taken it for granted if it is plentiful and easily obtainable. The global picture for water management is not encouraging and probably worse in Africa than elsewhere. Can you imagine three-hundred million people not having access to safe water? Did you know that October 11, 2006, that was the entire population of the United States? I cannot imagine our entire country not having access to safe clean water!  The inability to obtain clean safe water and the resulting poor sanitation situation keep the African people poor.

postheadericon A Little-Known Hole in Your Online Marketing Bucket.

In my last blog post, I introduced you to some great analyzation tools to help you check your site performance and traffic. You can also see if there are any defects on your site. What do I mean by this statement?  Part of my answer is that you can tell by how many times your web site visitors are requesting a certain file or page but they can’t find it on your server; what they’re looking for does not exist.  This is an opportunity for customer service.  What is your potential customer’s experience like on your site? In this post, I shall reveal some simple strategies to rectify this situation.

What is your site telling you?

After you have set up your blog (I will be giving you specifics in another post should you need guidance on this subject), it will be important that you understand how to measure the results of your new online presence, popularity, and effective marketing techniques.  You have laid the foundation, now what?  The next step will be to set up your marketing and let the world know what you have to offer.  There are many types and ways to market your products and services.  If you are a network marketer or direct sales business, typically you will receive ideas and strategies from your upline or sponsors.  After you have duplicated their methods, you then need to track how effective your marketing really is.
