Self Motivation Techniques Empower You to Reach Your Personal Summit
We all have times in our lives where we might find it difficult to be motivated to follow our dreams and reach our goals. Sometimes life gets in the way, you feel overwhelmed , have too much going on, or you feel like you just don’t have the energy to work on your life’s plan. If you were to research and study those people that are able to consistently and regularly meet their goals and perhaps even go beyond them, you will find that they all use a self-motivation technique system. So when you feel less than enthusiastic about your life and think you may have stepped off the path, there are some things you can do to get back on track and reach your personal summit.
To get you in the proper frame of mind, the good news is that creating your own self motivation technique system is not difficult or complex. You can make little changes over time; it’s okay to take “baby steps.” You don’t need to take huge steps that may intimidate you and set you back mentally before you even get started! Change for many people is a scary process. You get used to your life being a certain way and the “unknown” can make you feel apprehensive. Just keep in mind that the path you are on is unique, it is your personal journey. Just take one step at a time, move in the right direction, and you will reach your goals! You just have to take that first step, then keep going each and every day! You can do that! You have to BELIEVE, you can do that. Reject any negative self-talk; replace it with positive affirmations like, “Maybe I haven’t achieved all my dreams yet, but little by little, step by step, I will get there! I deserve it! I’m worth the effort!” Daily Affirmations can help you have a positive start to each and every day.
Here are some tips for getting you back on track:
- Listen to Uplifting Music or Enjoy Beautiful Works of Art.
- Art is very subjective. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. You can create a whole new mood by viewing and contemplating artwork. Also, listening to enjoyable uplifting music. Everyone I’ve shared this video with agrees that they just feel better and motivated to take action after watching it! Try it! Leave me a comment and tell me what it did for you.
- Stop Sitting Around Feeling Sorry For Yourself.
- We all experience life’s ups and downs. Sometimes its just the gloomy weather. Get up, get moving! Spend time with children; their activity level is infectious. Dance, do household chores, get on the treadmill, go for a swim, ride a roller coaster! If the weather is fine, better yet, go for a walk. Or watch a show that always makes you laugh! I have past episodes of “Saturday Night Live” on DVD that always make me laugh no matter how many times I watch them! Release some endorphins! These activities can jolt you back into the land of the living!
- Start a New Hobby: Learn Something New.
- Your brain loves to be active. Clear out old musty thoughts and bring in fresh new ideas. Is there something you always wanted try? Maybe now is a good time. Try a new recipe, workout with your partner or a friend to lose a few pounds, take a class either online or locally. Get out and meet new people. Join a new online forum and share things you’re really good at.
- Get Your Act Together; Create Your Life’s Goals.
- First, prioritize exactly what your short and long term goals are. How do you get started? Sometimes brainstorming to create action steps can be a difficult process. You will need to break down a bigger task or milestone into smaller baby steps. I wrote an article that you may find helpful at this stage of the process.
- Be very specific about each goal and keep your short-term and long-term goals on separate lists. Don’t just write down something general, provide all the details. In his book, “The Success Principles,” Jack Canfield, states that “Vague goals produce vague results.” If you have no concrete goals to focus on, you will have chaotic disorganized thoughts. What do you think your results will be? Your goals have to be very specific so the results are very well defined and specific as well. For each goal, spell out the details, tell how you will accomplish it and in what time frame.
- As you view yourself, where you are at right now, make sure your goals are actually attainable. When I play tennis, it won’t help me improve my game if I play someone much less experienced than myself or if I were to play someone much better. If my opponent is way below my skill level, I will not “grow” or have to reach for my goals. My best choice is to play an opponent slightly better than me so I have to improve at a comfortable level to stay competitive. You need to set your goals within a fairly comfortable reach. If we set our goals too high, we will get tired of trying to reach them and probably give up.
- How relevant to your life are your goals? When you decided to create a list of goals and dreams, you had a reason why they were important to you. Now that you are creating a system to complete or achieve these dreams, are they still relevant to your lifestyle, your life’s mission? If your goals are relevant, they should reflect who you are as an individual person. What is your purpose in life, what is your calling? Your goals should be action statements that support your purpose in life. Focus on the benefits of achieving your goals rather than the difficulties of what you are trying to achieve.
- A good system will make it easy for you to take action. Defining your goals and dreams is very important but without follow-through, there’s really no point. After you have determined your life’s purpose, defined your goals and dreams thoroughly and within a realistic timeframe, then you need to TAKE ACTION.
- Are you able to measure and track your results? Do you have a method of organizing, tracking, and monitoring your goals? Seeing your progress will strengthen your resolve to continue on your true path. If you have some serious goals you want to achieve and desire an easy online method, then I want to make a suggestion that you set up this powerful well-respected tool that is my first choice for my clients. It allows you to visually chart your progress, print reports, create powerful action plans, and manage your self motivation techniques on a day-to-day basis. It also integrates visualization (one of my favorite personal motivating techniques) and applies these principles by effectively linking motivational pictures to your goals. Visualization subconsciously directs you down the path to help you achieve your goals. I also like that it has a goal journal and easy interface so it’s great for beginners. Because it’s fun to use and keeps your goals in front of you each day, your success rate will be much higher than with other systems I’ve researched. My clients report that they only way they get off track is if they don’t interact with their system on a daily basis (in other words, they have to choose to fail). There is a small monthly fee to use the system with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I haven’t had a client set it up and walk away yet!
Life is filled with choices. It’s important to realize that only you can decide what you want out of life and the type of life you want to live. You are the creator of your own reality. Take your life back today. Get motivated, fulfill your destiny.
To your prosperity and online success,

Sometimes I find it hard to feel motivated to follow dreams and reach goals. I agree that it is helpful if people would stop from feeling sorry for oneself and start focusing on their goals more. Now, I am happy doing freelancing more, which could be a new hobby for me.

Motivation can be hard to find; and if you have found it, it can be hard to sustain. We all have periods where we feel uninspired. You need to just get over it and get the job done! No one knows you better than you, so you often have to do your own research and get motivated again.
Stay happy, stay passionate… stay motivated. The world needs what you have to offer.

It’s so important to stay motivated and positive. Our thoughts and our state create everything in our lives, it’s easy to forget that we can cause our state to shift. It’s essential to have a list of what works for us to create that shift. Thanks for the tips and resources!

Hi Deborah,
Oh, this music is so uplifting! It is amazing how words attached to music can get me going! I am not a person to struggle with focus. However, it is often tough to keep our life purpose in alignment with daily activities especially when we are building a business online. it can feel lonely and this is why it is so critical to get into a mastermind group of like-minded people who really believe in you. That feeling of standing on top of a mountain is just so cool!
Thanks for sharing Deborah.

Dear Deborah,
Fabulous article! I am reminded: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Just like our journey, we take one step at a time. Once in a while, we veer off sideways and get a bit off track, but then we get focused and zero in on our journey and move forward again.
Thank you for all the wonderful ideas and tips that you shared here.
Have an awesome day and I know you will!

Deborah,
Thanks for these great tips. Most of us, as entrepreneurs with nobody telling us what to do, struggle at one time or another with self motivation. This can be a death sentence if we don’t implement methods to get ourselves back on course and back into action.
I especially like your suggestion of setting goals. It is only when we truly know where we are going that we will be motivated to do whatever is necessary to get there. Great job!

Thanks for this awesome post. Self-motivation is so difficult sometimes, and the practical ideas give you something solid to work with.
Hi Deborah,
Awesome post…thank you for sharing.
The video is great, it had me moving while watching it and got me inspired to take an action step and go work-out, which I WILL do right after my comment.
I love the fact that you were able to convey soooo much valuable content in this post. The blog is well designed and easy on the eyes and a pleasure to visit..going on my blog roll.
Now, about the post.. you are spot on with your techniques. It is difficult for people to take action for various reasons. But, the easiest thing that anyone can accomplish is to “JUST DO IT.” You have to start someplace, so it is OK to start slow and take those baby steps. But, once you start to do ONE THING that is uplifting to you, it can become a routine very quickly and you will feel so much better.
So, just get started with ANY of the techniques mentioned in the post and you might be surprised where it leads you…
To your continued success,
Marc
Hi Deborah,
Self motivation can be a hanging point as well as the the very turning point for people. Nice post. Sometimes, it’s the initial step to get us going that is the hardest. It really can be a trust of faith or belief. Motivation can be very mind focused. Identify what your motivating factor or factors are and keep them posted in a place where you see them each and every day.

Thanks, Mike.
You make some good points here. Having those reminders “in your face” each day keeps them prominent in your mind; that keeps you focused!

When I am stuck I look at my goals and see how I can divide them in smaller more realistic chunks. This will give me renewed energy, because it gives me the feeling that I can do this. Oftentimes, this feeling is shortlived, because even the new, smaller, goals are hard to accomplish. Rather than spinning my wheels (like I used to do), I repeat the process. I end up with even smaller tasks and at some point it will make them very doable. All of a sudden that big task I started out with, and which I deemed impossible to execute, is finished. This is probably the most satisfactory moment, when you realize that you actually did what you deemed impossible before.

Deborah,
So sorry to hear about your dog.
Great post… the techniques you talk about are very cool. It is important to have a positive attitude. We find that what we put out there is what we get back. If we have a negative outlook, it’s darn near impossible to attract something uplifting back.

I enjoyed writing this post. I try to always see the good, the positive, the silver lining if you will. I’ve had to work at having a positive attitude for most of the time. Sometimes just living in the world can taint your perspective, change you in subtle ways, and you have to decide what you hold on to and what you let go!
Again, best wishes to you and thank you,

Ive fallen off the beaten path many of times But I always keep jumping back onto the saddle and going on strong till I get what I want. It’s all or nothing for me. I see that you wrote down a lot of different steps you can use to keep yourself motivated and to keep your mind off of the ups and downs in life. Having realistic goals is very important to actually attaining them. Most people pick out the impossible which is impossible to do. But for someone who has never achieved any sort of success its great to start out a bit small and raise the stakes a bit. Thanks for sharing

Hello, Steven and welcome,
So glad you agree that sometimes people create goals that they’ll never reach; almost a “self-sabotouge.” Then you have some people that really don’t believe they deserve success so they choose goals they know they can’t reach to validate their low self-esteem. I just want to help people get off to a strong start, in the right direction.

Thanks for sharing Deborah;
This is a very well written post filled with plenty of great actionable steps that can be implemented into a daily routine. I kinda agree a little with Alina that suggested a little bit more space to break up the awesome content you have.
But that is definitely not something that destroys the overall great content that you’ve written. Thanks for sharing my friend; I’m very happy that I found you and this great blog you have. Keep up the great work.

I love the video, Deborah! The music is uplifting and makes me want to MOVE. And the images are perfect! Lots for everyone.
Something that always helps me quieten my turbo brain is to get out for a walk or bike ride by myself. I live in the country, and there is very little traffic on our road. There are lots of places to stop and enjoy the quiet sounds of nature… the wind whispering through the branches… the river rippling… the buzz and hum of insects… the songs of birds… Of course that only works in the summer time, but even in the winter, the sounds of silence truly are golden… a balm for my chaotic mind.

I loved the article, but I do agree with Mike from our WordPress Group regarding the eye strain. Two thoughts here: 1-Break up your content further with more space so that the words don’t appear like a sea of letters. -or- (better yet)
2-Substitute the stark white background for an eggshell or creamy off white, that way the black letters don’t stand out so harshly.
Now that’s just a thought and I’m the First to say I Love your site, it’s Beautiful!!!

Hi Deborah…what a fantastic post topic!! Who doesn’t have times in our lives when we feel perhaps a little down and unmotivated (even though we know there are tasks we need to be working on)?! And, especially liked that you noted that life is filled with choices ~ that it’s ultimately up to each one of us to take responsibility and control of our own lives and destiny!

Hey, Christine:
I enjoyed writing this post. So many people think that I never experience times where I am low energy or that I get off track because I’m a very positive person. However, like anyone else, I’m human. Life sometimes throws us a curve and we have to deal with it. Then, we look around and say, “How did I get here? I’m so far off the path I was supposed to be on.” We need to have strategies to quickly get us back on track so we don’t waste too much time being “lost.”
Each choice we make takes us in a certain direction. Where are we trying to go? We have to have goals and a plan to get there.
